Simplex Completes Phase I Of Military Modular Homes Housing Contract.
Construction of Phase II Units Under Way.
Simplex Industries is a lot like the military. In
order for either to work well it is necessary to get large numbers of people
to work both together and independently on often small pieces of very big
projects.
For Simplex, many of those project pieces these days are
homes designated for U.S. Military families. Simplex has just
completed Phase I construction on some 71 housing units and has been awarded
a private venture contract to build duplexes for an additional 100 military
families. Due to regulations, Simplex is not able to provide exact details
on the military contracts except to note Phase I construction began in July
and all families will be moving in no later than December 31, 2007.
Phase II is set to begin in early January 2008 with July 2008 as the target
move-in date.
“It was an honor to build homes for the men and women of
the armed forces and their families,” said Simplex President Patrick Fricchione
Jr. “We take pride in every home we build, but to be honest, doing
something for military families was really special. We’ve built countless
homes and commercial structures over the years but I can’t remember a project
that had a greater personal impact on our employees. To have our work
recognized and been given the green light on the additional units is fantastic.”
Fricchione said the homes built at Simplex were not standard
base housing by any means, “These homes were intended to offer a level of
comfort equal to private homes in their geographic area. These are
upgraded homes designed to insure the military families truly feel comfortable.
The homes feature luxury items such as Corian Countertops, upgraded Progress
Light fixtures, high end Moen faucets and finished two car garages.”
The homes are also Energy Star compliant and feature full Heating/Venting/Air
Condition (HVAC) systems.
The design, construction and setting of the homes operated
under a strict onsite safety program agreed upon by Simplex and supervised
by an independent construction manager. The entire project was completed
without a single accident.
Simplex maintains a corporate headquarters in Scranton,
Pennsylvania along with two high technology manufacturing plants. All design,
engineering and construction work is done within the climate controlled
manufacturing facilities. Simplex also maintains their own fleet of trucks
to deliver homes to building sites.
Simplex Industries is a rare player in the housing
industry in that they are family owned and operated. The company was
founded by three Fricchione brothers in 1971 and is now in the hands of
the second generation of family members. The company is one of the largest
employers in Northeastern Pennsylvania and arguably the largest employer
of skilled craftsmen. “We take great pride in our work force,” said
company president Patrick Fricchione. “While we feature the absolute latest
in technology throughout our construction process, it’s technology to enhance
the skills of our people not replace them.”
While they boast over 35 years of nationally recognized
expertise and a mantle full of building awards Simplex is not content according
to Patrick Fricchione, “We are only as good as the last house we built.
So we make sure Simplex Quality and Simplex Craftsmanship actually mean
something. We’re building homes for men and women who put their lives
on the line for our country. They deserve the very best Simplex has to offer.”
