SIMPLEX HOMES HELPS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WAYNE COUNTY BUILD HOUSE.
Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County faced challenges to build on a small lot in Browndale, PA and worked with Simplex Homes of Scranton to carryout their Habitat mission. Paul Caruso, Simplex Homes Vice President of Operations said how happy Simplex Homes was to have a part in making this house a reality. The team at Simplex Homes really enjoyed working on this Habitat house. Two other companies donated equipment and manpower to make the Habitat house in Browndale a reality. Pioneer Construction Inc. of Honesdale demolished the old building and Waste Management provided the construction dumpsters and removal.
Habitat dedicated the new home for a family in need on August 14, 2011. The keys to the new Habitat house in Browndale, PA were given to Ms. Gina Puri for her and her daughter Kacy France on Sunday, August 14, 2011. Wayne County Habitat’s president, Lena Warren welcomed the large turnout of volunteers, Habitat Board, and the friends and family of the new Habitat Partner Family. The new Habitat family were presented gifts for their new home by the Habitat Board and volunteers. A bible was presented by Lena Warren, an American flag by Paul Hartung, a mailbox by Mel Rutherford, a quilt by May Rutherford, and the homeowners manual and keys to house by Clyde Kreider, the chair of the Habitat Building Committee. Mr. Paul Caruso, Simplex Homes Vice President of Operations attended the dedication and congratulated the Habitat family.
Habitat’s mission is to provide decent affordable homes for people in need. This house is the 16th house built by Habitat in Wayne County. Board member Tom Tresslar said: “each year we are concerned about how we will get the funds and resources to complete a house –but with God’s and the communities help we have built 16 homes for people in need since the Wayne County Habitat for Humanity non-profit organization started in 1991.” A myth that some people believe is that Habitat houses are free. The truth is Habitat Partner Families must have a housing need, have the ability/income to pay back a no-interest loan, meet credit requirements and contribute 300 hours of sweat equity. The resources to build a Habitat house come from fundraisers, grants, the repayment of no-interest mortgages, donated material, donated property and the labor of volunteers.
